2012 Staff
Rose Byler left home (Goshen, IN) four years ago to find a new home at Eastern Mennonite University where she is currently studying Social Work, Spanish, and Bible and Religion. While not doing classwork to a Debussy sound track, Rose can be found biking, reading (novels and the hymnal mostly), running, doing laundry, and playing games . Rose will be graduating in April 2012 and after the summer at Wilderness Wind plans to return to Harrisonburg.
Matthew Helmuth is a Goshen native who’s passionate about participation in the events where the stories of God, creation, and humankind all come together. He’s passionate about noticing those moments and being a part of the processes that help individuals and communities to experience them more fully and healthfully. He is glad to be back for a second summer at WW, and hopes to see you there!
Kate Holsopple currently studies music therapy and classical guitar at Elizabethtown College. When not studying or practicing, she can be found teaching herself mandolin, or any other instrument she can get her hands on. She also enjoys cooking, and eating tasty vegetarian food. Kate has been canoeing her whole life, and her future goals include building her own canoe.
Marilyn Kamp’s life and work is seen through nursing eyes whether volunteering with Hospice, a Food Pantry, connecting with women through Bible study, or teaching children about Jesus through our S.S. program. Otherwise, the time spent with family is precious to her.
Stand Kamp’s life and work is seen through a carpenter’s eyes whether working with wood, stain glass, or relating to Bhutanese Nepali people, community people in need, or family members. Connections are important to him and to God’s kingdom. The Great carpenter richly blesses.
Mary Ruth Kamp lives in Kidron, Ohio with her husband Mark and their pets Anna, Ahdin, and Pumpkin. One of her goals this summer is to explore the Ohio lakes and rivers by canoe and kayak. She enjoys activities that engage her senses: gardening, pottery, and cooking to name a few. She looks forward to hearing stories from the summer.
Kathy Landis enjoys laughing with her Little Sister, watching and participating in system and personal change, and wandering through the yard with a cup of tea in the morning to see what flowers are blooming. As she winds down her time as the Executive Director, she is grateful for the many people who have caught the vision of Wilderness Wind.
Dave Leonard lives in Goshen, Indiana and enjoys community there with folks of all ages. He enjoys books, bicycles, and his nieces and nephews (many who have adopted him along the way). He returns to Wilderness Wind for yet another season to offer his broad scope of skills.
Aubrey and Clinton Helmuth Miller
From the countryside of Bolivia to the city of Harrisonburg, Virginia, Aubrey has spent the past five years teaching music to kids. She loves to sing, play banjo and piano, practice Spanish, and go exploring outdoors. She enjoys growing vegetables but likes eating them even more. Always ready for a new challenge, Aubrey is looking forward to adventures of all kind at Wilderness Wind this year…and a chance to breathe lots and lots of piney air.
Since graduating from Eastern Mennonite University, Clinton Miller has worked in construction and viticulture. He enjoys well made tools, running at dusk, and weeding his wife’s garden. Clinton also enjoys portages. As a carpenter and aspiring blacksmith, Clinton pursues his love of making things with his hands. Clinton relaxes through the quiet art of traditional rock climbing.
